The actor, EDM trio and a bevy of DJs will team up October 26 for a Chicago concert benefitting Cancer for College

WHO COULD HAVE predicted this collaboration? In a video posted to Swedish House Mafia‘s socials, Will Ferrell announced he’ll be performing with the EDM trio in Chicago this fall. The concert, which is a benefit for the charity Cancer for College, will take place at the Wintrust Arena on Oct. 26.

Will Ferrell’s Ultimate DJ House Party, curated by the actor and DJ White Shadow, will also feature sets by D-Nice, A-Trak, Felix Da Housecat with Dallas Austin, DJ White Shadow, Terrence Parker, Gene Farris, Chicago icon Terry Hunter, Annalyze, Henry Fong, Matthew Koma, the Captains of Industry, Drama, Twista, Madds, Boom Boom Room, plus more special guests, including some Chicago sports stars.

 

 

“The city of Chicago is officially on notice,” Ferrell said in a statement. “We’ve loaded up the van, filled it to the moon roof with all our favorite records and enough Zima to get us from Irvine, California to the southeast corner of Clark & Wacker. If you’ve ever wanted to party with me and roughly 10,327 of my closest friends, you won’t want to miss this. It’s going to be the ultimate house party and everyone’s invited. To top it off, we’re celebrating Chicago as the home of house music and supporting a great charity in Cancer for College.”

Tickets for Will Ferrell’s Ultimate DJ House Party go on sale Friday, July 19, at Ticketmaster.

Earlier this month, Ferrell and the EDM band revealed the gig with a short clip that begins with the actor sitting in a Swedish House Mafia shirt and sunglasses at a computer with a musical keyboard bopping to some beats before he turns around. “Oh, hello, I didn’t see you there,” he says. “I have a major announcement to make … I’ll be playing with my band, Swedish House Mafia. Boys — Steve, Seb, Ax — get in here.” And in walk the Swedes. “Be there,” Ferrell says forcefully. “Don’t piss these guys off.”

 

 

Cancer for College offers college scholarships to cancer survivors. Ferrell has long championed the organization, which his friend and three-time cancer survivor Craig Pollard, founded three decades ago.

“We’re so thankful that Will is willing to host these crazy events for us,” Pollard said in a statement. “His willingness to share his time, energy and star power to host shows like this has allowed us to make a significant impact in the lives of cancer survivors for over 30 years now.”

Creative Producer DJ White Shadow shared, “We’re gathering a legendary group of DJs who play everything from hip hop to EDM, yacht rock to R&B, and house music in the city where it was born exactly 40 years ago. Everyone is sure to have a blast while supporting an incredibly meaningful cause.”

 

In 2014, Ferrell joined forces with his celebrity doppelgänger, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, for a Cancer for College benefit where they performed the Rolling Stones’ “Honky Tonk Women” together. He’s also raised money for the organization by auctioning baseball uniforms, organizing an all-star benefit, and playing cowbell with his son, Magnus, among other events.

Earlier this month, Swedish House Mafia released a new single, “Lioness,” which features Niki and the Dove. In addition to the Chicago concert with Ferrell, the trio has several tour dates booked throughout the summer — both as Swedish House Mafia and individually — all over the world.
