The funky, retro-themed Jolene Sound Room opens on the legendary Flagler Street with plenty of nods to ’60s recording studios and ’70s aesthetics

The owners of Club Space Miami – Bar Lab Hospitality, Space Invaders and Link Miami Rebels – have joined forces to launch a new venue, Jolene Sound Room Miami. This unique, basement space in Downtown Miami comes with a state-of-the-art audio and lighting system.

This is the second Jolene Sound Room concept, with the first opening in the heart of Williamsburg in Brooklyn in March.

The venue’s specifications are designed to create memorable performances for the surrounding area’s music culture and Miami-based artists, while also attracting global talent.

The design is heavily influenced by “mid century recording studios & ’70s leisure lifestyle”, with a custom-made soundsystem, befitting of the room’s irregular floorplan and wooden finishes. It’s also inspired by the “fierceness and femininity of Dolly Parton”.

The sound room has been mastered by Phonic Technologies, the acoustic engineers behind New York clubs Cielo and Output using similar designs for optimum sound quality.

Bar Lab Hospitality founders Elad Zvi and Gabe Orta are known for other venues such as Broken Shaker, 27 Restaurant and Hoja Taquera. Miami nightlife icons David Danese and Coloma Kaboomsky from Link Miami Rebels, along with David Sinopoli (co-founder of Ill Points) form Space Raiders.

Under Space Raiders, the group co-own the influential dance haven Club Space, which has become a beacon of club culture in the coastal metropolis.

The opening weekend featured DJ Tennis, Carlita and Soul Clap, who made a tasteful selection of disco and soulful house cuts.
