AlphaTheta and Serato will continue to operate as standalone brands, a statement confirmed.

AlphaTheta Corporation, the parent company of Pioneer DJ, has purchased Serato.
Announced today, July 11th, the acquisition strengthens what is a longstanding relationship between Pioneer DJ and Serato. However, a statement confirmed that they will continue to operate as standalone brands.
AlphaTheta CEO and president Yoshinori Kataoka said that he’s “delighted” with the acquisition. “Bringing Serato into the AlphaTheta Group will lead to new synergies and significant technological innovations, adding continued value to the community,” he added.
Meanwhile Serato CEO Young Ly expressed excitement at the idea of strengthening the brand’s “long-standing partnership with AlphaTheta, accelerating how we create value for our users and the industry.”
It’s the latest in a flurry of music tech acquisitions that have gone through over the last few years. Most recently, Moog sold its business to InMusic. Prior to that, Native Instruments, iZotope, Plugin Alliance and Brainworx joined forces to create new parent company Soundwide, and Beatport acquired plug-in and sound pack company Loopmasters.
