The Chicago house pioneer’s longtime production partner Eric Kupper will guest at the event
fabric is putting on a special event in January to mark what would have been the 70th birthday of Frankie Knuckles.
Taking place during the daytime of Saturday, 25th January, the London club’s For Frankie event will mark the first of a series of parties in the late Chicago house pioneer’s honour, taking place at venues across the world in 2025.
The line-up takes in a number of figures who had a personal connection with Frankie Knuckles, including his longtime production partner Eric Kupper, who will be flying in from Chicago to DJ. The bill also includes New York City DJ Tedd Patterson, and CJ Mackintosh and Marcia Carr from the UK.
In a statement, Frederick Dunson, CEO of the Frankie Knuckles Foundation, said: “I, along with the members of FKF, am thrilled and excited to celebrate this incredible occasion – honouring our beloved Frankie on his 70th heavenly birthday. This celebration stands as a true testament to his enduring legacy and the profound impact he has had on the world. We are continually amazed by the overwhelming outpouring of love and admiration he still receives.”
All proceeds from the party will be donated to the Frankie Knuckles Foundation, the not-for-profit organisation which is dedicated to causes that were close to the late DJ and producer’s heart, including advocating for music in schools, fighting LGBTQ+ homelessness, and pushing for more research into diabetes and HIV/AIDS.

In September, the late artist’s legacy was honoured in his hometown with the unveiling of a new mural.
Earlier this year, a number of his classic tracks and remixes were collected together on a vinyl set from Defected.
