The concept release, a collaboration between Armada Music, Warner Music Africa and Africori, features amapiano reinterpretations of classic Ibiza house tracks

A new V/A EP has been announced, ‘AMAPIANO TO IBIZA’, which sees amapiano reinterpretations of classic Ibiza house tracks.

The concept – a collaboration between Armada Music, Warner Music Africa and Africori, a platform for independent African artists and labels across the world – is proposed by its press release to “honour amapiano’s house music roots by merging some of house music’s most iconic classics with the genre’s sounds”.

To accompany the EP announcement, the first track – a reimagining of Human Resources’ ‘Dominator’ by Rosey Gold and Jay Music (pictured) – is available to check out now.

The full EP is launching later this summer although reinterpretations are set to roll out between now and the final release, with those involved including DBN Gogo, Kelvin Momo, Thuto The Human and 2woBunnies as tracks from Armada’s discography – including those by Dennis Ferrer, Blaze and Inner City are all recreated.

“We are delighted to announce this innovative partnership with Warner Music Africa and Africori,” says CEO of Armada Music Group Maykel Piron. “House music has been adopted and adapted by various genres worldwide over the years, and this project underscores its potential to transcend traditional genre boundaries once again.

“We are excited to continue our mission to insert creativity into our extensive catalog and breathe new life into classic dance music.”

‘Dominator’, the lead track taken from ‘AMAPIANO TO IBIZA’, is available now via OUT OF ORDER
